Conference weekend has arrived and we’re excited to welcome you all to this year’s venue; Jury’s Inn Hinckley Island, nestled in the heart of Leicestershire.

While we’re sure the BELMAS conference will keep you busy over the weekend, you might be keen to go out and explore the area once the conference has closed its doors. For that reason, we’ve put together this handy guide to help you experience all the best that Leicestershire has to offer.

From heritage trails and grand country parks to rock climbing and trips that are – almost literally – out of this world, there’s plenty to keep you occupied. Then there’s the story of a certain 15th century monarch who turned up most unexpectedly in Leicester City just a few short years ago…

Here’s our round-up of what to do and see in Leicestershire.

National Space Centre

Just 1.5 miles north of the city centre is Leicester’s fascinating space museum. With fun, kid-friendly exhibitions, interactive galleries and the UK’s largest planetarium, it covers everything from astronomy to the space missions happening today. Be sure to check out the iconic 42m high Rocket Tower, home to Blue Streak and Thor Able rockets, along with the Gagarin Experience, Apollo Lunar Lander and real Moon Rock. Not to be missed!

Belvoir Castle
