What is SELMAS?
A community of independent education practitioners
- providing the context and a stimulus for the thinking, on the big educational issues
- supporting, encouraging and provoking matuer conversation about education
- crossing all sectors in Scottish education to promote high quality educational leadership but always looking outward to connect with the wider leadership agenda
- engaging educational leaders in a wide range of relevant social issues and making connections with interested leaders from other spheres
- supporting and developing practitioners and leaders in the education professions
- provoking debate among educationalists from all sectors on educational leadership, management and administration
- helping to form policy at local and national levels through wide ranging engagement in the various SELMAS forums
- providing a safe space for a candid expression of views
- supporting good practice in education and educational leadership, management and administration at all levels
- drawing from research to inform developing understandings of educational leadership, management and administration
Who runs SELMAS?
SELMAS is led and coordinated by a committee of interested individuals from a wide range of educational backgrounds and experience.
What can SELMAS offer you?
Through an annual conference and other leadership events, SELMAS offers opportunities for challenging, open, tolerant professional discussion on educational leadership issues with colleagues.
Who can attend SELMAS events?
Anyone working in a field of education who is interested in exploring leadership, management and administration issues is warmly welcome to attend any SELMAS events, including meetings of the Committee.
