40th Anniversary Calendar

BELMAS is looking forward to celebrating its 40th anniversary 2012-2013. Here is a preview of some of the highlights to put in your diary.

2013

27 February: Mike Bottery (University of Hull) continues the conversation on 'Educational policy, leadership and values'

27 April - 1st May: BELMAS is represented at the AERA Annual Conference, San Francisco.

7 May: Anniversary Reception at the House of Commons

19 June: National conference: Who owns our schools? (London)

5 June: Sue Robinson continues the conversation on 'Educational policy, leadership and values'

12-14 July: BELMAS Annual International Conference 'Leading beyond the institution' (Edinburgh)


2012

20-22 July: Annual International Conference - 'Shaping Educational reform: learning research and practice' - Midland Hotel, Manchester

September: A Special Issue of the Society’s journal, EMAL, looking at how thinking and practice in relation to issues such as school autonomy, culture, diversity, leadership development and shared development have evolved over the decades, and looking forward to the next ten years.

16th October: Re-Making the Middle: How can the United States and New Zealand experiences of restructuring of education governance inform our understanding of policy in England? Professor Chris Lubienski, University of Illinois.

3-7 November: Celebrating our links with CCEAM at their Conference in Cyprus www.cceam2012.com

21st November: National conference: 'Leadership and policy in education: looking back to look forward' (Birmingham).

11th December: First conversation on leadership, policy and values - 'There IS an Alternative: Progressive change in turbulent times". Professor Michael Fielding, Institute of Education, University of London, and Professor Philip Woods, University of Hertfordshire (London).

14th December: Research Interest Group Meeting: Governing and Governance in Education
