BELMAS Considers New Programme of Small-Scale Research Grants

Over the period 2011-13, BELMAS ran a programme of small-scale research grants, through which small sums (£3,000 - £4,000) were made available for research projects on selected themes (Staff costs not funded). The themes for these projects were ‘Structural Reform’ and ‘Leadership Preparation and Development’. The programme produced valuable findings many of which were presented at conferences and published in the Society’s journals.

BELMAS Council is now considering reinstituting this programme and to build into it the additional aim of identifying conclusions that BELMAS is properly able to publicise and commend to policy-makers. In order to do this, suitable themes need to be established to guide funding for the programme. We are therefore asking members for their suggestions for possible themes which are suitable for small-scale research projects and are likely to have policy leverage. Please send your suggestions to the BELMAS Office at by 29th April 2016.

BELMAS Council will consider members’ suggestions and full details of a new funding programme will be announced in due course.
