SELMAS Forum 14th May

We now have the programme for this year’s SELMAS Forum, always one of Scottish education’s best annual events.

Again we are in St George’s School in Edinburgh and again the format will be speaker, food, speaker, discussion and more food, speaker, again discussion and more food and panel will be maintained.  This is a superb opportunity for educationalists across Scotland to discuss the big issues but also to meet old friends and colleagues.   The evening starts with drinks from 5.30 pm, with the formal events of the evening starting at 6.15 pm and concluding at 9.00 pm.  Given recent legislative changes and our provision of drinks at the beginning of the evening, we would remind colleagues attending that there are excellent public transport links to the area of St George’s school.  Haymarket Station is a 20 minute walk and 5 minute bus ride from the school.

This year’s theme is Closing the Gap: an Impossible Dream?.  The evening will facilitated by Margery McMahon and the speakers are Brian Boyd, former Headteacher and Professor of Education at Strathclyde University, Surgeon, Juliette Murray and entrepreneur and supporter of Newlands College, Jim McColl.

The theme for this year’s Forum is at the centre of debate and discussion in governmental circles, in Scotland and across the UK, but is at the very heart of the work of every practitioner in every school in Scotland.

This Forum will again, we are certain, be a sell-out event.  Tickets for the evening are £30 per person.  As we have done in recent years, we are again offering a discounted price for participants who bring a colleague who has not attended previous SELMAS events: £50 for two places if one of the two is new to SELMAS.

Book your place now by completing and returning the booking form to me as soon as possible.
