Further Education: Is it Time for Cinderella to go to the Ball?

A joint seminar hosted by BELMAS and the University of Derby.

Further education is often overlooked or not understood, yet in a context of demands for higher levels of education and skills, the role of further education, and its relationship with
schools, universities and employers, is arguably more important than ever. This seminar will focus on what further education does - and can do - to raise levels of achievement,
skills and employability and to improve prospects for local communities.

This event is for school, college and university leaders, governors, policy makers, researchers, and others with an interest in education policy, practice, partnership and research.

Prof. John Coyne, Vice Chancellor of the University of Derby will kindly be opening the event.


The Further Education Sector Today: Len Tildsley, Principal, Buxton and Leek College
Leading new developments in the Further Education Sector: Jamie Smith, Director of Strategy and Infrastructure, South Staffordshire College
Moving Further Education Forward: Liz Downes, Head of Higher Education, Chesterfield College

Followed by discussion, debate, opportunities for developing research and networking interests.
There is no charge for this event, which is supported by BELMAS and The University of Derby.
