BELMAS was established to maintain, promote, and extend public education by advancing the practice, teaching, study of and research into educational leadership, management and administration. BELMAS aims to provide a distinctive, independent and critical voice in the pursuit of quality education through effective leadership and management. We are concerned with ideas and practice and the inter-relationship between the two.

BELMAS aims to:

  • encourage discussion and dissemination of ideas related to good practice;
  • facilitate collaboration between practitioners and academics within and across educational sector
  • promote reflective and research-based approaches to leadership and management
  • encourage networking
  • represent nationally and internationally the importance of effective leadership and management for educational improvement

Our role is of particular importance at a time when leadership issues are often discussed as if they were essentially non-problematic and value-free.

The focus of the seminar is -

Alison Taysum: The role of doctoral research in a process of empowering critical and reflective leaders to document barriers to social justice.

Rubina Darr: Mobilising an outstanding record of school improvement; the critical reflections of a female Muslim professional senior educational leader and Chief Executive Officer of a Multi Academy Trust.

Shamina Durrani: Navigating the intersectionalities of education, diverse community traditions, and entrepreneurial innovations with delicacy for success; the critical reflections of a Senior BELMAS DRIG Advisor, and successful female Muslim entrepreneur, philanthropist and humanitarian.

We invite you to join this BELMAS Doctoral Research Interest Group event to build relationships, networks, and together re-envision a future for equity and renewal, and identify how the 14th Amendment endorsed 50 years ago is being actioned today.
