Postgraduate research is located within contested conceptualisations of the knowledge economy, professional learning, applied research, globalization, and educational diversity in higher education and the workplace. Against a backdrop of such complexity, the BELMAS Doctoral Research Interest Group (DRIG) aims to re-envision conceptions of quality that influence definitions of place, purpose and understanding of professional learning in doctoral study in the area of educational leadership, management, and policy. Postgraduate research has the potential to play an important and significant role in building leadership capacity in education, health, social services, and the police as we see Child Services engaging with different agencies from traditionally separate fields. Joined up thinking will be vital in the future creation of civil society in the UK and worldwide. Thus the BELMAS DRIG will examine the nature and place of cultural and economic social justice in civic education together with the internationalization of purpose, structure and function in doctoral study through evidence informed leadership.

Yours sincerely
