Doctoral Thesis Award 2018 - How to nominate

Nominations are now closed

BELMAS is pleased to invite submissions for its annual prize for the best doctoral thesis. This award is made to the individual whose thesis is deemed by the Selection Panel to have made the most important contribution to our understanding of educational leadership and/or policy.

The award winner and runner up will be invited to attend the BELMAS Annual Conference 2019 to receive their award and their conference fee and accommodation costs will be met by BELMAS.

Only theses awarded by a university in the United Kingdom will be considered.

For this year's award, theses must have been conferred or officially notified between 1st September 2017 and 31st December 2018. Candidates will normally be nominated by their supervisors and must be members of BELMAS at the time of nomination.

The closing date for completed nominations was midnight on 31st January 2019.

Proposers are requested to:

- complete the nomination form via the link below

- arrange for the candidate to submit an abstract of the thesis, written for the purpose, of not more than 2,000 words

- provide a statement indicating briefly (200 words maximum) in what way the study can be claimed to make a significant contribution to research in educational leadership, management or policy

- arrange for a supporting statement from the external examiner

Please note: Shortlisted candidates will be asked to submit an electronic copy of their full thesis during March 2019.
