The roles of President and Vice President are honorary positions, bestowed upon members who have rendered distinguished service to the Society.
All Trustees are elected by a membership ballot using the single transferrable voting system and serve a three-year term of office. Trustees can typically serve two terms, allowing for a maximum of six years on the Board.
The Editor-in-Chief of our Journals is eligible to serve up to three terms, resulting in a maximum tenure of nine years.
The Chair and Vice-Chairs are elected annually from among the current Trustees.
All terms of office for these roles commence in January, in alignment with the BELMAS financial year.

BELMAS has established several sub-committees with delegated authority to support the operational work of the BELMAS Office team.
Each sub-committee is composed of members from the Board of Trustees and Employees, who report back to each one of the five Board meetings per year. The sub-committees are as follows:
Each sub-committee operates under a specific term of reference as outlined in the By-Laws of the BELMAS Constitution
As a membership-led and transparent organisation, the Board of Trustees ensures that all meeting minutes are published on our website once they are approved at the subsequent meeting.
If you are looking for the most recent Board of Trustees minutes, please visit the “Governance” page. There, you will also find our governing Constitution and By-Laws.
