Trustee Board

How Are They Appointed?

The role of President and Vice President is honorary and is bestowed on members who have given distinguished service to the Society.

All Trustees are elected by a membership ballot using single transferrable voting and serve a three year term of office. They can usually serve two terms of office and therefore can be elected for a maximum of six years on the Board.

The Editor-in-Chief of our Journals can usually serve three terms and therefore a maximum of nine years.

The Chair and Vice-Chairs are elected annually from and amongst the current Trustees.

All roles terms of office begin in January in line with the BELMAS financial year.

Sub-Committees

BELMAS has a number of sub-committees that have delegated authority to support the operational work of the BELMAS Office team.

  • Appointment and Remuneration Committee
  • Awards, Bursaries & Grants Committee
  • Conference & Events Committee
  • Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Committee
  • Finance Committee

Each Sub-committee has a term of reference outlined in the By-Laws of the BELMAS Constitution
