Dr Julie HarvieTrustee
Dr Julie Harvie is a Senior Lecturer in Educational Leadership at the University of Glasgow and Programme Leader for ‘Into Headship’ which is the Scottish national headteacher preparation programme. She currently sits on the National Design Group for educational leadership within Scotland and is a member of the Future of Headship research team. Julie co-convenes the Scottish Educational Research Association (SERA) Leadership in Scottish Education Network (LiSEN) which brings practitioners, policy makers and academics together to discuss relevant leadership topics. Within the School of Education Julie has held the role of Quality and Enhancement Officer and has been a member of the School of Education Ethics Committee. Julie was an External Examiner at the University of Nottingham for three years and is currently acting as a ‘critical friend’ of the ‘TransformLEAD’ project run by the University of Bristol which provides professional learning for school leaders in the Philippines. She belongs to the International School Leadership Development Network (ISLDN) and leads a subgroup of this which is focused on social justice leadership. Julie supervises Phd, EdD and Masters students and also teaches on a variety of postgraduate and undergraduate leadership courses. Julie previously held the role of Primary School Head Teacher and has experience working at system level. Her research interests include educational leadership, curriculum development and interdisciplinary learning.
