DescriptionEvent Recording

Where: Online
Date: Wednesday 25th March 2026
Time: 7.30pm – 9.00pm (UK time)

As part of our ECR Month line up this March, we invite you to an ECR Ignite Session, Chaired by Deb Outhwaite and Megan Crawford.

An Early Career Researcher is someone studying for an MAEd or an EdD, or within five years of having passed their doctorate. BELMAS have a long history of running Ignite events. An Ignite Event is where speakers talk for 3-5 minutes about their EdD or their research project and take part in a discussion with fellow participants.

If you have not attended an online BELMAS event before now, this is an ideal, friendly, first event to attend. It is relaxed and informal, with a small supportive audience – ideal to sign up for if you have a progression event or a Viva coming up and you would like a bit of friendly practice!

This is an ECR themed event, so you do not have to be presenting on any particular Research Interest Group title, just anything connected with Educational Leadership, Management, Administration and Policy.

We hope you can join us.

Please note, this event is for free for both BELMAS Members and non-members

If you would like to become a BELMAS Member, you can join here.

Registration will close at midnight (UK) on Monday 23rd March 2026.

Joining Instructions

Joining instructions will be sent out the day before the event, so please keep an eye on your inbox for these. We look forward to seeing you at the event!

We record our online events for sharing purposes on the BELMAS website and YouTube page. Please tick this box in your registration to acknowledge you are happy for us to record.

On Wednesday 25th March, as part of our 2026 ECR Month line-up, Deb Outhwaite and Megan Crawford hosted an ECR Ignite Session.

During the event, we heard from a range of contributors who told us what BELMAS has done for them, and what they get out of the BELMAS community as an Early Career Researcher.

Our speakers/attendees who contributed to the conversation were: Jo Byrd, Cristina Motoca, Emma Kell, Ulrike Vogel, Wendy Conrad, Helen Angell, Lujaina Kerwat, Jake Garwood, Caitlin Lamont, Harry Mante, Helen Chatburn, and Rosemary Evans-Obinna.

If you missed this event or would like a recap, you can now watch it in full below.

Our huge thanks to Deb and Megan for hosting this session and to everyone who contributed.
