We invite you to the relaunch event for the newly reinvigorated Post-16 Leadership Research Interest Group.
In this first webinar in a new series, we welcome Mark Hyde, Head of Teaching, Learning & Assessment, and Dr Michael Smith, Director of Teaching and Learning Innovation at Barking & Dagenham College, UK, and Dr Lorna Loy from University of South Wales Pathway College, who will share their recent research papers on FE Curriculum and Continuing Professional Development Leadership.
The papers that will be presented are:
1. Mark Hyde and Dr Michael Smith, Barking & Dagenham College, UK Hyde, M., Melville, P. and Smith, M. (2025) ‘”We should have some say”: enhancing CPD in further education through an autonomous approach’, Research in Post-Compulsory Education, 30(1), pp. 7–24.
2. Dr. Lorna Loy University of South Wales Pathway College, UK Loy, L. (2024). ‘Redefining teachers’ continuing professional development in further education providers in England’, Research in Post-Compulsory Education, 29(3), 520–540.
There will be opportunity for questions and ideas from the audience. This will be followed with a discussion on the planned ideas for the year ahead for the RIG and ways in which the audience and the wider community can get involved with the RIG’s activities.

Please note, this event is free to BELMAS members and £5.00 for non-members. To ensure you receive your free ticket, please log in on the BELMAS website before booking.
